Deepika Roots For Tennis

Deepika Padukone attended the Wimbledon semi-final between Roger Federer and Marat Safin yesterday. Deepika is in London shooting for Imtiaz Ali's next and took permission to attend the match.

She was at the match as a guest of Kingfisher and Vijay Mallya. Deepika told us from London that it's a matter of honour to be invited, adding that she was invited because of her "association with the brand."

First time live!
The actress adds that she's watching the event live at the venue for the first time. "I am with friends and am really excited because I love the sport. Yesterday, I watched the men's semi-finals between Roger Federer and Marat Safin. I was rooting for Federer." And she couldn't be happier when he won!
She continues, "I watched a lot of tennis because dad (ex-badminton champion Prakash Padukone) and I used to play the game sometimes. Dad used to play tennis as a hobby. We used to play occasionally at a club in Bangalore, where we are members."

Sports all the way
The Bangalore girl is quite into sports and knows how to play basketball, tennis, throwball and baseball and played state level badminton till Standard 10, after which she studied for her board exams. Considering her love for sports, would she be keen to act in a sports film? "Yes, I'd love to do a sports film coming from a sports family and being a national level badminton player myself. It could be any sport considering there is so much talent in our country but unfortunately, there is a lack of resources."

Deepika's next releases are Yash Raj Films' Bachna Ae Haseeno with boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay Kumar.
